Tariro Chitapa
Business Development Manager
Tariro holds a B.Com in Marketing Management from the University of South Africa and qualifications in Project Management and Logistics and Supply Chain Management from the University of Witwatersrand. Prior to joining Ironveld in 2012, Tariro was employed as a marketing and public relations manager. At Ironveld Tariro’s responsibilities include, in addition to Business Development, procurement, logistics and corporate social responsibility (CSR).
Unathi Thage
SA Group Company Secretary
Unathi is Ironveld‘s longest serving employee. She has worked as an Executive Assistant since 2011 and her responsibilities also include the Social Corporate Responsibility program. Unathi is a qualified builder and also holds Diplomas in General Management and Information Technology. She is currently enrolled with University of Witwatersrand where she is completing her qualification in Company Secretarial.
Nokuzola Phetla
Project Coordinator
Nokuzola has over 10 years background as Project Manager in the construction and project management framework within the Department of Human Settlements and Housing Development Agency’s PMUs. Nokuzola holds a National Diploma in Civil Engineering and an Advanced Diploma in Project Management. She possesses an expertise in monitoring projects’ performance, resource coordination, planning aspects from execution to delivery and an aptitude to identify innovative and effective strategies to achieve results.
Adv Bernard Ntuli
Group Compliance Manager
Bernard is an Admitted Advocate of the High Court, and he holds an LLB degree from the University of Pretoria. He further holds a Certificate in Municipal Governance & Leadership from University of Witswatersrand. He also holds several qualifications in Local Government. He started his professional life as a Judges Clerk and Researcher for in the North Gauteng Division for a period of two years . He served his articles at the renowned law firm, Solomon Nicolson Attorneys between 2005 until 2007. Bernard has a considerable amount of experience in Local Government having served in that space for over a period of twelve years. He worked at Dipaleseng Local Municipality serving in various portfolios, namely Manager: Legal & Administration, Director: Corporate Services, Director: Planning & Economic Development. Whilst in the employ of the Municipality, he served at the IEC as a Municipal Electoral Officer for a period of twelve years, overseeing National & Provincial elections as well as Municipal elections . He joined Ironveld in September 2022 as the Group Compliance Manager.
Rirhandzu Sekhula
Group Safety Manager
Rirhandzu holds a B-tech degree in Safety Management from University of South Africa, Bachelor of Arts from University of Limpopo and a Diploma in Human Resources. He started his career in 1997 as a plant operator and was later appointed as safety officer with Foskor Mine in Phalaborwa. He has worked for De Beers, Sasol, Delmas Coal and Anglo American Platinum. He joined Ironveld in October 2022 and personally believes that “ZERO HARM” is achievable.
Dineo Kau
Environmental Officer
Dineo holds a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Management from University of Venda and pursued her career with University of Potchefstroom. She started her career in 2013 as Environmental Intern before being appointed as Environmental Officer with Platinum Group Metals at Maseve Mine in Rustenburg. She also worked as a Consultant for various mining and farming projects. Dineo joined Ironveld in 2022 as Environmentalist, ensuring the Group is fully compliant with current environmental legislation. She is passionate and committed about caring for the environment.

Keneilwe Malegase
Chief Executive Officer
Keneilwe holds Bachelor of Technology (Engineering in Mining) from University of Johannesburg coupled with a Mining Certificate of Competency (Metal Mines). In her current role she provides thought leadership and vision to Ironveld Mining (Pty) Ltd. by working with Board of Directors and Senior Management team to establish, implement and oversee strategic business goals, mining plans and designs and ensuring effective management of the mining operations.
Nethonzhe Mphaphathi
Mine Manager
Nethonzhe holds a B. Tech Engineering (Mining), B.Tech Operations Management and post graduate Diploma Operations Management from the University of Johannesburg. He is also the holder of the Opencast blasting certificate. He started his career as a Learner miner at Canyon coal mine in Middelburg, then was promoted to be stockpile controller and acting Mine Manager . In 2019 he was appointed as Mine Manager at Matsopa Minerals. In 2020 he joined Glencore Coal SA as production supervisor and during his time there acted Production Superintendent. Nethonzhe joined Ironveld in December 2022 as Mine Manager.
Fabian Fredericks
Mining Technical Services Manager
Fabian Fredericks is a qualified Geologist holding an Honours degree in Geology from the University of Pretoria. He holds an Advanced Project Management Programme (APM) Certificate from the Unisa Graduate School of Business Leadership (SBL) as well as a Strata Control Certificate from the Minerals Council of South Africa. Fabian is a full member of Geological Society of South Africa (MGSSA).
Fabian started his geology career in 2011 with the MSA group where he gained a wealth of experience in both base and precious metals in the form of exploration and mining geology. Fabian was the Geologist responsible for the planning, geological logging, geological sampling and QAQC of all the exploration drilling on the Ironveld Project from September 2011 to June 2013. Fabian has since gained a multitude of experience in the different MTS departments (Geology, Rock Engineering, Mine Planning and Survey) in both open pit and underground mining environments. Fabian joined Ironveld in February 2023 and is appointed as MTS Manager.
Jan Mapeka
Senior Geologist
Jan Mapeka is a qualified geologist holding a Masters degree in Mineral Resource Management (MSc. MRM) from University of the Free State. Jan Completed both BSc. (Hons). Geology and BSc. Geology from University of Pretoria.
He is a full member of Geological Society of South Africa (MGSSA) and also registered professional scientist (Pr.Sci.Nat) with South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions (SACNASP). Jan started his geology career in 2011 with Ivanhoe Mines (Ivanplats) where he formed part of a team that discovered a world class orebody (Flatreef on the Northern Limb, Bushveld Complex) from grassroots prospects through to advanced stage with significant drilling. He also has a wealth of experience in shaft sinking and mine development. Jan joined Ironveld in February 2023 and is appointed as Senior Geologist.

Thamaga Mphalele
Chief Executive Officer
Thamaga is a registered professional Electrical Engineer and a member of the South African Institute of Electrical Engineers (SAIEE). He holds a MEng (Electrical) and BSc Engineering (Electrical) both from the University of the Witwatersrand. Thamaga joined Ironveld in 2015 as a Senior Electrical Engineer and is the CEO of Ironveld Smelting. Thamaga started his career at Eskom in 2009 as an Engineer-in-Training being appointed in 2010 as an Electrical Engineer for overhead distribution systems technologies.
Ampfarisaho Manyage
Group Metallurgist
Ampfa holds a Master’s degree in Business Administration and Metallurgical Engineering Diploma from the University of Johannesburg. He is also a qualified ISO systems (International Organisation for Standardisation) Auditor and Implementor with certificates from TUV (Middle East). He started his career in 2008 at EVRAZ-Highveld Steel and Vanadium as a Process Metallurgist rising to Senior Metallurgist and then Section Manager. In 2016 he joined Columbus Stainless Steel as a Team Manager in the technical department and in 2017 he joined Chromium Steel, Bahrain as a Senior Metallurgist/Quality Manager. Ampfa joined Ironveld in 2022 as a Metallurgist and is currently appointed as the company’s Group Metallurgist with responsibilities that include technical support, process optimisation and product development.
